The Everything What is Crap FAQ Version 1.0 By Timothy McLees EWIC STAFF: * Timothy McLees (Owner/Webmaster) * RJ Bachler (Livejournal Community Moderator) * Seth Triggs (Host) 1) Didn't this used to be Tenchi/Shinji/Shuuichi's Vault of Anime MSTings? Indeed, the Vault of Anime MSTings has been going strong since April 1996, but as my tastes have begun to change, as have those of my friends and regular contributors, I have revised the site to incorporate the growing and evolving phenomenon of Geekdom, in various forms. 2) Does this mean you're not doing MSTings anymore? :( Oh no! MSTings are still a fundamental element to EWIC. The Vault of Anime MSTings archive, as well as any new submissions, will be added to the MSTing section. To learn more about making MSTings for EWIC check out the MSTing FAQ to see how! 3) And what else does EWIC cover, then? EWIC will also feature articles and musings on the worlds of anime, American comic books, movies, and gaming. 4) Like a news site kinda thing? Well... not really. EWIC takes a more humorous, tongue-in-cheek approach to these subjects. EWIC's articles explore the funny, weird, and just plain stupid aspects of Geekdom. These could range from in-depth remarks on the latest Shonen Jump series, or a list of Magic's lamest game gimmicks. There's more than enough Crap to explore. 5)So... what brought on the change? As mentioned before, my tastes have changed in the last 10 years. I've fallen in and out and back with pro wrestling, the anime scene's changed drastically as it's become Geek Chic, and MST3K's kinda slipped under the proverbial radar. Another factor is how, as SVAM grew, it became a bit less personal and more of an archive. Some of the contributors that filtered in joined SVAM-- not to produce something funny, or to interact with the community that the site had begun to develop-- but rather to try & show off how cool and awesome they are. Finally, change is just a necessary thing on the internet, both for personal and "business" reasons. As a webmaster and writer, I'd kinda go bonkers if I was still producing the same stuff now that I was in 1995. Also, I don't want to be known as the guy who did 3A forever. :P So, inspired by other quirky pop-culture sites like X-Entertainment and Solid Sharkey, I'm aiming to make my site a bit more personal again, and make it multi-faceted enough that I, and others, have numerous options to write and express our ideas and humor. 6)And the odd Engrishy name? Heh... chalk that up as inspiration from my friends. Some of the other SVAM regulars did a short-lived parody gaming review site called "Everything What Is Games" dedicated to such riviting gaming news like Sephiroph's hair and the Vicks Humidifier. At a loss to figure out what to call the "new" SVAM, another IRC regular suggested the EWIC moniker... and it stuck. 7)I'm game, how do I submit stuff for EWIC then? Ah, the big question! Well, email me at bluebeetle15@gmail.com. This is where you send your MSTing submissions to me as plain text attachments, and I'll look them over for consideration. If you want to write for EWIC's news blog, tell me what kind of stuff you'd like to write about. Bear in mind that I reserve the right to reject it, or to adjust it to go online. And of course, make sure to leave your name & subject so I know who to give credit to, and where to put the article! Any other questions? E-Mail me at bluebeetle15@gmail.com.
